Second-half comeback lifts AU over Lander in season opener

The Augusta University men’s basketball team successfully completed a comeback in the second half to defeat Lander University 87-72 on Wednesday night, Dec. 2, at Christenberry Fieldhouse in the season-opener for both teams. Peach Belt Conference to play 16-game schedule for 2020-21 basketball season

AU Athletics announces 2020 Sherrill Athletic Awards; Quarles gets coaching honor

The 2019-2020 athletic year was filled with many accomplishments along with an unfortunate ending due to the novel coronavirus. At the end of every school year, the Augusta University Athletics Department hosts the William Sherrill athletic banquet at Christenberry Fieldhouse to honor student-athletes. Because of the virus, the banquet could not be held at Christenberry Fieldhouse and was done virtually instead on Thursday, May 29, as the award winners were recognized via social media. Winning streak continues as Jaguars get commanding win over USC-Aiken, 91-69

On Jan. 29, the Augusta University men’s basketball team defeated Peach Belt rival USC-Aiken on the road, 79-74, which would be the start to a winning streak for the Jaguars. On Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Christenberry Fieldhouse, AU obtained their ninth consecutive win after defeating Aiken again, this time by a score of 91-69. The Augusta University men’s basketball team defeated UNC-Pembroke 75-65 on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 15, at Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars (12-4 in the Peach Belt Conference, 17-7 overall) upped their winning streak to six games and now are just one game out of first place.

The Augusta University men’s basketball team picked up an 84-82 road victory against Flagler, Saturday, Feb. 8, in St. Augustine, Fla. With the win Augusta (10-4, 15-7) wins its fourth consecutive Peach Belt Conference game and remained in fourth place as the league heads into a key stretch of contests in February before the conference tournament.
