Monteiro leads Jaguar men to win over Georgia College in overtime thriller on Senior Day

For the fourth time this season, the Augusta University men’s basketball team avenged a loss they suffered on the road. The top-seeded Augusta University Jaguars open their bid for the Peach Belt Conference Tournament crown against Columbus State on Wednesday, March 6, at 7 p.m. at Christenberry Fieldhouse. The Jaguars (23-5) are on a 10-game winning streak and enter as the top seed in the league tourney. Coach Dip Metress’s team, ranked 15th in the NCAA Division II media poll and 24th in the coaches’ poll, won the PBC regular-season title by a game over second-place USC Aiken. Tonight’s winner moves on to the semifinals on Saturday. If AU wins tonight, the PBC semifinals and final will be played at Christenberry Fieldhouse. Following is a preview of this week’s tournament with a focus on the quarterfinal contest with Columbus State:
